About Lakeside Animal Hospital
Lakeside Animal Hospital was founded in 1958. The hospital portion was added on in the mid 1960s and the original space was made into a grooming and pet store facility. By the 1970s, Lakeside was one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the U.S.
After Dr. J. Augustus Brooks took over the practice, the hospital underwent extensive renovations and acquired the latest medical equipment. Lakeside Animal Hospital was one of the first veterinary facilities to adopt laser surgery and has been practicing it for more than 10 years. In 1998, Dr. Stephanie Rezler-Goodman joined the practice as an associate.
A few years ago, Lakeside Animal Hospital began offering on-site pet cremation services through the Animal Angels business.

Dr. J. Augustus Brooks
J. Augustus Brooks is the owner of Lakeside Animal Medical Center.
He attended Michigan Technological University and Northern Arizona University and ended up graduating from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1986 in with a degree in biology. He was accepted to Michigan State University School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated there in 1991.
After graduation he worked at the Los Angeles Zoo as a temporary veterinarian for three months before starting as an associate at Lakeside Animal Hospital. He will see any animal species that needs his help from the dogs and cats to the snakes, lizards and sugar gliders.
He is the exotic veterinarian of the practice and many people have traveled quite far to bring them their pets that other clinics do not see. He performs surgery three times a week and is the emergency surgeon of the practice as well. If he is near by, he will make himself available for any patient that needs him no matter what. In his free time he plays hockey, flies planes and in the summer you will find him on his boat.
Dr. Stephanie Rezler-Goodman
Stephanie Rezler-Goodman has been an associate with Lakeside Animal Hospital since May 1998. She started her undergraduate work at Michigan State University and got accepted to their veterinary school there before receiving a bachelor degree. She graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
She practices medicine on cats and dogs but will see pocket pet type exotics. While she performs surgery a few times a week, her interest is internal medicine. She currently has a dog Lola and a cat Helen. Her downtime is devoted to her family with her toddler son taking up most of her time, but she loves reading, walking and watching movies when she can.
